Light Logistics wins IIGP gold medal
Express News Services, May 20, 2010
The Technopark-based Light Logics has won the gold medal at the
'India innovation growth programme' (IIGP) for its 'Next-generation
holographic weapon sight'.
"The Light Logics hologram, when illuminated with a laser beam,
produces a distant virtual image of a 'tiny spot covered by a circle'.
The soldier who looks through the sight fixed on the gun can easily
aim the target this way. They will have a clear natural eyeglass
view, which will help in easily tracking, aiming and firing the
weapon, inflicting maximum assault on the enemy in the minimum possible
time,'' said Light Logics CEO P.T. Ajith Kumar.
Minister of Science and Technology Prithviraj Chauhan handed over
the award to Ajith Kumar at a function in New Delhi on May 20. The
company is a holography technology firm and supplier of core holography
machines.
The IIGP is a joint project of the Department of Science and Technology
and Lockheed Martin USA to enhance the growth and development of
India's entrepreneurial economy. Light Logics won the award for
its innovative invention which, Ajith Kumar said, will be an aid
to the armed forces and military in sharp shooting in a 'tactical
engagement area'. Technopark CEO Mervin Alexander also congratulated
Light Logics for its achievement, saying that this is a "defining
moment in the history of Kerala IT".
